In 1907, John Pierpoint Morgan (who’s banking exploits eventually gave birth to Morgan Grenfell which is now Deutsche Asset Management) and Hugh Cecil Lowther, 5th Earl of Lonsdale apparently made an extraordinary wager — which is known as the Harry Bensley Story, as chronicled by his possible great-grandson. (The page was last updated more than a year ago; makes me wonder whether the search for more information has gone off the rails.)
