Blood on my hands.

So now Singaporeans can now learn to ‘tackle spam’ with yet another patently sorry website. (Yet another campaign in a country where we have to teach people to be kind and to somehow procreate.) If you wonder why most government-related websites look like they were cobbled together using sticks, stones, ugly bevels and inopportune drop shadows, I can tell you (with some authority*) that it is not always the agency’s or designers’ fault. The stakeholders are usually (but not always) dour paper-, pen- and pencil-pushing bureaucrats who seldom know anything about the Web, who usually have other more senior bureaucrats to answer to and who think a site with mass appeal must look like their own favourite sites combined.

* I usually bury my government related work very deep underground so they’d never be found
