Daft expectations.

A friendly word of advice if you’re planning to buy Daft Club, a new compilation album from Daft Punk: Don’t buy the damned thing unless you are a big fan and/or have a compulsive streak of buying all their stuff in the name of totality and completeness. Not only does this CD have just two new tracks (which are pretty average on first listening), it has 2 of the most nauseous remixes I have ever heard — the normally competent Neptunes’s fuzzy foul-up of Harder Better Faster Stronger and the far more senseless mishmash of Phoenix by the usually impeccable Basement Jaxx are probably two of the most awful and vacuous samples of electronic music I have heard in a long while. While the Daft Punk remix of Aerodynamic is expertly done, this compilation album, in general, is a nod to mediocrity and is as inferior as it is unremarkable.
