“Revenge of the Finn.” was penned precisely on 23 May, 2005 08:45 AM, which happened to be a Monday. but you know what? dullneon.com's random notes has now moved to a new location.
At the Monaco GP, probably the most glamorous event on the Formula1 calendar, Red Bull Racing joined forces with the Star Wars franchise for a massive promotion blitz for Revenge of the Sith. Part of the gimmicks included the Red Bull pit crew being decked out in very cool Stormtrooper outfits. Alas, the poor “lollypop man” (top left corner in the picture below) looked like Darth Vader’s track pant wearing traffic cop twin.
Unfortunately, one-third into the race, Red Bull’s top car pilot, David Coulthard, had to retire after an accident and his apprentice, Vitantonio Liuzzi, followed suit soon after. It seems the force was not strong in them.
In the end, the man with the force, the car and the race win turned out to be Mclaren’s Kimi Raikkonen.
