Shoe brands and charities.

Ashley Judd, posing for Aldo Fights AidsNike and Lance Armstrong kind of started the yellow wristband fad, which was aped by almost every other aid organization (in a variety of colours). Now, Aldo and YouthAids are trying to foist upon us effing dog tags with the Aldo Fights Aids campaign, fronted by celebrities like the very hot Ashley Judd (who already is a YouthAids ambassador herself). Welcome to the world of marketing where a charitable organization is the launch pad for an ad campaign, which then results in the advertiser being showered with praise for ‘increasing awareness’ while all they have actually done is cut past the noise of the usual crowded media channels.

I’m such an effing cynic.
