Air Asia United.

Malaysian-based budget airline, Air Asia, struck a one year sponsorship deal with American-owned English football club Manchester United (for an undisclosed fee). Here’s what the club’s commercial director said:

“We are probably the most supported club in Malaysia. Our supporters there are as fanatical as they are in Salford and we are keen to build on that.”

I’m fairly certain what he probably meant to say was:

We used to be the most supported club in Malaysia and in the region, until Chelsea came along and became fashionable with the kids. Our supporters there are as fanatical as they are in Salford but have more disposable income and we are keen to build on that by selling even more (home and away) jerseys which we change every year.

But then again, I’m just speculating… what would I know.
