Bond rebooted.

Daniel Craig as James Bond in Casino Royale
James Bond is back with Casino Royale, and he’s more brutal and muscular than ever before. But Daniel Craig looks too old for me, and it is weird seeing Bond get all mushy and lovey-dovey. It’s a fair attempt at re-inventing Bond, but it seems to have landed in muddy middle ground between updating the suave, gentlemanly Bond of old and evolving him into a far superior, super slick Jason Bourne of new.

I actually watched this movie almost 4 weeks ago, but no matter how long it takes, I just can’t seem to like this Bond. I think the movie, for me, is best summarized by the quality of the opening titles — nice idea, pleasing in parts but overall, not quite good enough.

“I miss the Cold War!” growls M at one point and I have to wholeheartedly agree. If you want to watch reboots, go watch the better written, far superior Batman Begins.
