MusicBrainz.
When it comes to online music databases, CDDB has long been a joke and recently, it seems FreeDB may be going to the dark side as well. That was enough reason to try out MusicBrainz and their Picard file tagger. While the ‘brain’ behind the software seems pretty awesome with its Music Analyses methods, the interface is really, really, really sucky. If you can get past and through that, you’ll have quite a smart music tagger on your hands (though M4A support seems non-existent).

this was published on 1 January in the year 2007, which was a Monday. anyway, all this is old and archived. everything has been now been moved, so head on down to the revamped almost daily random notes (unless of course you like this old stuff too much to part with it).
