The hidden profession.

A List Apart’s first annual web design surveyIf you work on the web, take the Web Design Survey (spearheaded by A List Apart and Happy Cog) and help build the knowledge about our industry. And spread the word to your friends and colleagues, too. (Read more about it here and here.)

Maybe someday soon, Workers of the Web will have our own professional body (like what AIGA is to professional designers) and maybe some kind of a recognized accreditation system.

But before that, we need to stop using “web designer” as a catch-all term for those who work on the web. Maybe something egalitarian like “Digital Worker” could be used to describe anyone who works on anything related to the web and the internet.
