Nothing personal, former Facebook friends: I’ll miss those wall updates about doing dishes and changing the kitty litter… But most of all, I will miss those hundreds upon hundreds of baby pictures that remind me daily of how insanely happy I am that my kids aren’t babies any more.

Look at the image carefully… the mirror is reflecting the text from the spine of the book, without inverting the text! Genius!

The next generation of mirrors are upon us, courtesy of R. Andrew Hicks and his mathematics.

Nothing is original. Steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination. Devour old films, new films, music, books, paintings, photographs, poems, dreams, random conversations, architecture, bridges, street signs, trees, clouds, bodies of water, light and shadows. Select only things to steal from that speak directly to your soul. If you do this, your work (and theft) will be authentic. Authenticity is invaluable; originality is nonexistent. And don’t bother concealing your thievery—celebrate it if you feel like it. In any case, always remember what Jean-Luc Godard said: “It’s not where you take things from—it’s where you take them to.”

Cover art of Tonight… Franz Ferdinand

If you thought Take Me Out from Franz Ferdinand’s self-titled debut album was awesome, the first single off their new album, Ulysses, might just blow you away. It’s a great return to form for the Scottish rockers after their disappointing sophomore album. This album is just brilliant on headphones — a lot of small sonic details and the electronica-infused grit will start tickling your ears. Their lyrics might make you cringe now and then, but these boys definitely know how to make a good tune (f)or two.

I dunno man… the glitching, pixel break-up effect sounds like a good, plausible idea but, as evidenced by this Kanye West video, I think it is very hard to pull off well. Some folks are raving about this video but i think, for most parts, it’s just horribly awful. There’s beauty in the most inane and abstract things around us, but this just doesn’t cut it for me. Sorry Nabil, you’ve got some great work under your belt but this isn’t one of it.

What a fantastic CG video! You have to watch it even if you’re not an F1 fan. (I wonder whether it was done by the same people who did the Red Bull F1 Singapore video.)

Remember tape cassettes? The blank ones had inserts/inlays for you to list the songs of your mixtape. You follow me so far, kids?

(Don’t touch that play button if you can’t cope with flashing images!)

Kate Moross and Alex Sushon switched off and on some lights in an industrial setting for the new Simian Mobile Disco video. Yeah, I love organic stuff too, but they could have gotten a good Flash guy to create this video with some masks and Actionscript, man.

As an aside, I’d just like to announce my displeasure at the quality of some of my recent Threadless T-shirt purchases. The T-shirt quality has become incredibly thinner and shittier and I will not be buying or recommending any Threadless stuff until I hear of improvements.

Neither (Maurice) Lévy nor (Martin) Sorrell fits the stereotype of the admen of yore, who built their agencies on the backs of their creative reputations. Neither has made an ad or managed a marketing campaign. Instead, Sorrell and Lévy have assembled companies that own agencies.

What the hell happened, Larry? All the data lost? No backups? No backup of backups? Lots of people are bummed out but seriously folks, it’s data on a free service — what did you expect? There are more severe that you can lose in times like this.

Of course, I am sad my bookmarks are all gone, but I am gonna give it a few more days before switching back to my old, inactive delicious account.
