The Wife and I bought some Sesame Street DVDs for the kid a few weeks ago and I have been almost overwhelmed with nostalgia while watching some of it. The pinball number song by the Pointer Sisters was a favourite of mine as a kid and watching it again has left me quite astounded. The visual pastiche of different eras and styles—art deco elements, old Victorian styles and trippy tessellation animations to name a few—on a non-computer, hand drawn isometric three-dimensional environment is imagination, craft and beauty at its old school best.

And funk music is just timeless.
