I got hold of an old laptop recently and I’ve been downloading some new Linux distributions to try out and get the most out of this used machine. While downloading, I was thinking about the ‘old days’ when I was first started dabbling with Linux – I remember playing with Slackware in the mid/late 90s. It was right in the middle of this daydream that I saw my download window…

The Xubuntu Live CD was being downloaded at a speed of about 1.3MB per second. In ‘old days’ speak, that was the equivalent of almost a single 3½-inch floppy per second! What a mind-blow.

That kinda gave away my age there, didn’t it?
