Form elements and browser windows for Mac Firefox 3 and Vista IE7, all set in a layered Photoshop file

Because I like pain and suffering, I recreate browser UI and form elements for my mock-ups from various sources for almost every other project. (Protip: This is how inertia and laziness manifests in more work later on.)

Today, I decided to get my act together and downloaded the Browser Form Elements PSD from Teehan+Lax, the same guys who made the wildly popular iPhone GUI PSD file.

If you need more UI elements from a slightly wider range of browsers, try the Designers Toolbox’s Web Browser Elements. Also recommended, but somewhat unrelated, is the excellent Yahoo! Design Stencil Kit.

Beautiful Art-Deco inspired covers which look great even on the spineA very handsome set of six hard covers, beautifully designed by Coralie Bickford-Smith at Penguin, to commemorate the 70th anniversary of F Scott Fitzgerald’s death.

With all the books arranged with their spines out, I was happily visualising the bookshelf at home looking pretty holding all six books.

The next visualization that followed was my wallet looking rather empty.

Directed by his friend and brother-in-law Casey Affleck, I’m Still Here is a documentary about Joaquin Phoenix as a former actor and aspiring rapper. The poor guy’s life has been punctuated by excessive media intrusion, starting with River Phoenix’s death back in the 90s.

Though I don’t think I’ll be watching I’m Still Here in the cinemas, I absolutely adore this poster. The dark, desaturated tones and the cut-up type seem to tensely cloak the absolutely gruffy-yet-vulnerable looking subject/actor/rapper/person.

Dowling Duncan have a bold, ballsy and somewhat un-American looking proposal
Beautiful, bold and refreshing American dollar bill designs by graphic design firm Dowling Duncan for the Dollar ReDe$ign Project. It is very far removed from the current greenbacks and it does look very European (and consequently un-American) but it is thoughtfully and beautifully crafted.

George Lee's Tie Tea: A simple cleat on the lip of a mug to tie your tea bag to

I do all kinds of stupid things to keep my tea bags from sinking to the bottom of my mug. Paper clips, double sided tape and magnets are among the many things that decorate my mugs. This cute little cleat on the lip of a cup by Le Moutin Noir & Co is quite ingenious! I like the idea so much, I think I might start some deep tea drilling on one of my mugs soon.

The very beautiful QLOCKTWO tells the time like a stuffy Brit

QLOCKTWO is an exceedingly beautiful clock by Biegert & Funk and, at €885 a piece, it is exceedingly expensive too.

‘Nice but expensive’, the eternal consumerist quandary.

Beautiful, beautiful lights

Designed and manufactured in France, the quantity and quality of Le Deun Lumnaires’ LED-driven lighting appliances are excellent. They have these exquisite circular table lamps that would make even the messiest work desk look classy. (No direct links to their products because they have an old-fashioned full Flash site.)
