YouTube Play is ‘a collaboration between YouTube and the Guggenheim Museum to unearth and showcase the very best creative video from around the world’. This video by Johnny Kelly reminds of the good old days when MTV had weird and interesting IDs.
Just finished watching the global live webcast of U2 from the Rosebowl Stadium in Los Angeles. The fantastic streaming quality made it seem like I was really there. Except for the crappy new songs, the uniquely U2 mix of large screen trickery, Bono’s political peppering and good ol’ rock and roll made this a good show.
Just checked the site again at 6pm: Slightly more than staggering 17 million people watched it online.
Weirdly brilliant, yooouuutuuube.com takes a YouTube video and cuts it all up into some bizarre lomo action sampler-like strips. I used the Doves‘ excellent Black and White Towns video to try it out but I think it’d probably work better with psychelic or cheesy 80s videos.
YouTube as your website — clever!
So a couple days (or was it weeks) ago, I saw this comic from the ever excellent xkcd and thought it was pretty funny. Today, I find out that YouTube really implemented it!
The audio playback is pretty good (though it unsurprisingly muddles through lorem ipsum text). One can only hope users guilty of idiot comments will suffer unspeakable blows to their self-esteem from this new feature.
